Hi Bill.

Thanks for this series on setting up a Blog Tour. I found it interesting, not because I'm looking to set up a tour but because I host authors on my blog. So, it was informative to hear from the other side of the equation.

I've just finished an article I posted on my website looking at it from the Host side. If you'd like to read it, it's at:
http://helenginger.com/blogging_advice.htm#blogtips

There are new things to learn every day concerning the Internet. It's hard to keep up with it all! When I cruise around, I don't even pay attention to whether a blog is hosted on a free service or the blogger's domain. And, yet, now I find out that's important to visiting authors. So that's another thing I need to learn -- how to host a blog on my own domain.

It might be interesting to determine our own BR to see how we'd fair in comparison to the bloggers approached to host a virtual book tour.

One suggestion - while poking around other blogs to determine whether they are suitable to approach, leave a comment or two (of value). That will begin building the relationship with the bloggers, in case you do decide to approach. If nothing else, it enhances your contribution to the blogosphere.

Good point Glenda. I've set up filters on all my other email accounts, I don't know why I didn't think of them here? They're a big time saver.

Ideally you would build a relationship with your potential blog hosts before contacting them. It can be as simple as commenting on their blog ... You always get a better response from someone who knows you. Another good point.

Thanks for your input Glenda.

Further to Step 5, I would suggest creating a filter or rule in your email program that puts your Google Alerts into a separate folder(s) so they are all together when you go to analyze them.

My question with using Google Alerts to find potential blogs to host your tour, do you then build a relationship with the bloggers before asking them to host?

Bill, thanks for the mention in today's video. Yes, I'm eager to do a third virtual book tour; everytime I start thinking now is a good time to "head out", something else pops up! Hopefully later this summer tho.
